Tiger's mommy Kimmie asked us over for a traditional thanksgiving turkey dinner as I have been nagging her for ages to show me how to cook one. Knowing how totally bad I am in the kitchen she asked me to her house where she could guide me through the gentle practice of zen and the art of turkey stuffing.
I helped to cut stuff up and stir but the real Iron Chef was Kimmie. She is a wizzzz in the kitchen. And she is way patient. Not even when I ran from the kitchen screaming - 'eugghhh I am not stuffing my hand in that thing!!' did she bat a Southern eyelash. She is a laydee and was not going to let me get away with kitchen histrionics. I did not stuff anything but I am now a dab hand at mashing sweet potato and sprinkling sugar on things.
This was a meal loaded with more butter than I have ever had in my life but it was worth every km I will need to run to burn it off. And after all these years one of my dreams came true - I got to eat a dish made with sweet potato and marshmallows. It was pure joy. I am easily amused and addicted to American culture so this was high on my list of ' things that I want to try before I die'.
I wonder if Kimmie and Colin will get as much joy when I 'cook' them a dinner of take away Chinese food?
